This week’s Wisconsin restaurant pick: Andi’s Bakes

I wholeheartedly mean it when I say this..

These might be the best cookies I’ve ever had in my life.

Like not “these are good for Madison”… I mean actually insane.

Also, this isn’t even a storefront. This is a local baker out of Waunakee. So there’s a very real chance you either:

  1. Get lucky and grab some

  2. Or you miss out and get mad at yourself laterThe Lowdown

  • City: Waunakee, WI

  • Address: Online Ordering Only

The Ambiance

There is no “walk in and sit down” here.

This is:

  • place an order online

  • pick up fresh baked goods

  • immediately eat them in your car

It’s very much a low-key, local baker setup. Which honestly makes it better.

Feels like you found something you weren’t supposed to know about yet.

What I Ordered

  • Box of chocolate chip cookies

  • Bagels (including cinnamon raisin)

  • Full sourdough loaf

My thoughts on the food

Cookies:
I’m not exaggerating, these might be the best cookies I’ve ever had. Perfect bake, insanely soft, rich flavor. Like… immediate “yeah these are different” after one bite.

Bagels:
Some of the freshest bagels you’ll get around Madison. Soft in the middle, slight crunch on the outside, and the cinnamon raisin had that swirl in every single bite. Didn’t even toast it and it still hit.

Sourdough:
This might’ve been the prettiest loaf I’ve ever seen. Crunchy, crackly crust on the outside, super soft and fluffy inside. I ate it plain and was still blown away.

Overall: every single thing I tried was at the top of its category. Cookies, bagels, sourdough… all of it.

Important & interesting info:

  • She’s based in Waunakee and operates as a local, small-batch baker

  • Orders are placed through Bakesy and announced on Instagram (@andis_bakes_)

  • Availability seems limited - once things are gone, they’re gone

  • This is very much a “get it while you can” situation

Conclusion

If you’re anywhere near Madison…

You need to try Andi’s Bakes.

I don’t know how often she’s baking.
I don’t know how hard it is to get an order in.

But if you get the chance, take it.

Start with the cookies & the sourdough.
Then get everything else.

And if you somehow think they’re not the best cookies you’ve had… I genuinely want to hear about it.
