This week’s Wisconsin restaurant pick: Four Winds Farm

Example of a sandwich at Glorioso’s
I genuinely had no idea this place existed.
And honestly...
I'm kind of mad nobody told me sooner.
I went out for one of their Pizza on the Farm nights expecting some decent pizza and a nice view.
Instead, I found one of the coolest summer spots anywhere around Madison.
This isn't just somewhere you go to grab dinner.
It's somewhere you make an evening out of.
The Lowdown
City: Fitchburg, WI
Address: 5735 Adams Road, Fitchburg, WI
The Ambiance

The first thing that stood out was just how much space there is.
A huge restored barn.
Wide open fields.
Plenty of room for kids to run around.
Cornhole.
Picnic blankets scattered across the grass.
Even a sprinkler that had my son absolutely soaked by the end of the night.
It feels like someone invited you over for the perfect Wisconsin summer evening.
Whether you're on a date, hanging out with friends, or bringing the whole family, it just has a really laid-back atmosphere that's hard not to enjoy.
About the restaurant:
The more I looked into Four Winds Farm after visiting, the more I realized Pizza on the Farm is really just the beginning.
Throughout the year they host everything from wine tastings and educational wine seminars to yoga classes, food truck festivals, beer dinners, live music, and other seasonal events.
Their Pizza on the Farm nights have become one of their biggest attractions, and it's easy to see why.
Everything is centered around local ingredients.
The dough comes from Angelo's in Black Earth, the sauce is made by Maria's Pizza in Oregon, Wisconsin cheeses are used throughout, and many of the vegetables come straight from the farm itself.
It's less about rushing through dinner...
and more about slowing down and actually enjoying where you are.
What I Ordered
I kept it simple.
Wood-fired pizza.
A drink.
And plenty of time hanging out outside with the family.
Sometimes that's really all you need.
Thoughts on the food
The pizza
This honestly surprised me.
The crust had an awesome wood-fired flavor with just the right amount of crisp around the edges.
If I had one tiny critique, I probably would've liked the center cooked just a little longer.
But even with that...
I still thought the pizza was delicious.
The quality of the ingredients really comes through.
The atmosphere
This might've been my favorite part.
The food was great.
But sitting outside while kids ran around, people played lawn games, everyone was relaxing with a drink in hand... that's what makes this place special.
It's an experience just as much as it is dinner.
The overall experience
By the time we left, my son was completely soaked from the sprinkler, everyone was smiling, and I was already looking at the calendar to figure out when we could come back.
That's usually a pretty good sign.
Important & interesting info:
🍕 Pizza nights sell out. Tickets are released ahead of time, and reservations are required - don't expect to just show up.
🧺 Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. They have patio seating, but a lot of regulars set up on the grass and make an evening out of it.
🍷 It's much more than pizza. Throughout the year they host wine tastings, yoga classes, food truck festivals, beer dinners, and other seasonal events.
👨👩👧👦 It's one of the most family-friendly spots around. Wide open space, lawn games, and room for kids to run around make it an easy choice for families.
🌽 The local ingredients are the whole point. From the dough and sauce to Wisconsin cheese and vegetables grown on the farm, the menu is built around supporting local producers.
Conclusion

There aren't many places around Madison where you can grab wood-fired pizza made with local ingredients, let your kids run around for hours, enjoy a drink outside, and stick around for sunset.
Four Winds Farm somehow pulls all of that off.
I came for pizza.
I'll definitely be back for the food truck festival... and probably a few other events too.
If you've never been, go look at their event calendar before summer slips away.
There's a good chance you'll find something worth checking out.
