This week’s Wisconsin restaurant pick: Glorioso’s Italian Market

Example of a sandwich at Glorioso’s
Some places live up to the hype. Others exceed it.
Glorioso's Italian Market somehow exceeds it.
If you've never been, it's part Italian grocery store, part deli, part bakery, part wine shop... and somehow they do all of it ridiculously well. Whether you're grabbing lunch, stocking up on imported ingredients, or taking dinner home for later, it's one of those places you can wander around for way longer than you planned.
The Lowdown
City: Milwaukee, WI
Address: 1011 East Brady Street
The Ambiance

The second you walk in, you realize this place is way more than a sandwich shop.
Fresh bakery.
Huge deli.
Shelves packed with imported pasta, olive oils, sauces, cookies, spices, and pretty much every Italian ingredient you could think of.
Then you've got coolers full of meals to take home, an impressive wine selection, and enough desserts to completely ruin whatever self-control you walked in with.
It's definitely busy.
When I was there the place was packed, but they move people through surprisingly fast.
It feels like the kind of neighborhood market that's been doing things the right way for a long time.
About the restaurant:
Glorioso's has been a Milwaukee staple for decades, and after spending way too much time reading reviews, Reddit threads, and local recommendations, one thing became really obvious.
People don't just stop here for lunch.
They build entire dinners around this place.
You'll see people grabbing fresh bread, homemade pasta, meats, desserts, wine... basically everything they need without stepping foot in a grocery store afterward.
The deli gets a ton of love online, but honestly, what stood out to me is how many people said this has become part of their family traditions.
Holiday meals.
Sunday dinners.
Stopping in before heading home.
You don't see that kind of loyalty very often.
What I Ordered
Italian Beef
This was unreal.
The bread was ridiculously soft, they absolutely loaded it with beef, and every bite tasted like quality ingredients.
I've had plenty of Italian beef sandwiches around Wisconsin, and this one immediately jumped near the top of my list.
Napoleon
This thing was fantastic.
Light, flaky, creamy... one bite in and I knew I wasn't sharing much of it.
Cannolis
All three were excellent, but I'd rank them:
🥇 Chocolate-dipped
🥈 Classic
🥉 Tiramisu
The tiramisu filling had an awesome coffee flavor, but that chocolate-dipped cannoli was on another level.
Huge.
Fresh.
Dangerously easy to eat.
The overall meal
I don't think there was a single thing that disappointed me.
By the end I was sitting in my car thinking,
"Yeah... this is one of the best lunches I've had in a long time."
Important & interesting info:
🇮🇹 It's been a Milwaukee institution since 1946. Glorioso's has been family-owned for generations and has become one of the city's most iconic Italian markets.
🛒 It's way more than a deli. You can stock your pantry with imported Italian pasta, olive oils, cheeses, cured meats, sauces, wines, frozen homemade meals, fresh bread, and desserts, all in one stop.
🍝 The take-home meals have a huge following. Locals rave about the fresh lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, ravioli, and other ready-to-cook dishes for an easy dinner that tastes homemade.
🥪 The deli is known for massive sandwiches. Whether it's the Italian Beef, Muffuletta, or classic Italian sub, don't expect a tiny lunch. Most people leave full... or with leftovers.
🍰 Don't skip the bakery case. Cannolis, Napoleons, cookies, tiramisu, and other Italian pastries are some of the most talked-about items online, and plenty of regulars stop in just for dessert.
Conclusion

Places like Glorioso's are becoming harder to find.
Somewhere you can grab an incredible sandwich, pick up fresh desserts, stock your pantry with authentic Italian ingredients, and leave with dinner for later all in one stop.
Even though it stays busy, everything runs incredibly smoothly.
I was in and out faster than I expected, and honestly could've spent another half hour just wandering around looking at everything.
If you've never been, it's absolutely worth making the trip.
Overall Rating: 9.6/10
